If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve recently done a bit of back-end work and rebranded my blog. Today we’re going to talk about why I did it and what I’ve been up to in quarantine.
Goodbye A Dreaming Millennial,
Hello Arianna Westley
What I started this blog as A Dreaming Millennial, I wanted to focus on finding your passion and pursuing it. You know, the turning your dreams into reality kind of stuff. Since then, I’ve done quite a bit of creative exploration and I really narrowed down what I do and do not want to do in life.
I realized that I have a passion for things like photography and videography along with a love for social media. So why don’t I start working with a combination of the three?
Well, that’s exactly what I’m working towards. Right now, I’m working on building my portfolio. By the time I graduate college next spring, I want to be running Arianna Westley Creative Studio. I don’t want to settle for just one thing like photography or social media marketing. I want to combine all of my interests and help scale small businesses or personal brands at the same time.
Eventually, this website will serve as my blog, portfolio, and home of the Creative Studio.
YouTube Goals for May 2020
About a week and a half ago, I posted my first YouTube video in a few weeks. I went through a period of being really unmotivated and uninspired. Part of this was due to the quarantine situation but a lot of it was because April is a hard, emotional month for me.
I fell down the Tik Tok rabbit hole a few too many times. I was sucked in to watching a few too many episodes of random shows on Netflix or Hulu (come back for my recommendations post that’s coming soon!). I binged too many YouTube vlogs. This put me behind on schoolwork. But also somehow managed to give me intense spurts of creativity where I couldn’t do anything but write all my new ideas down so I had them.
The semester is going to be over sometime around May 15th for me so I have some really fun plans that I want to work on as soon as summer starts for me.
I want to start uploading as much as humanly possible this summer. Of course, I only want to share quality content but I’ll have more time to focus on YouTube and the blog when I’m not trying to keep up with classes. I might try daily vlogging for a week or two. If that goes well, I want to do a “vlogmas in July” kind of thing.
Last week, I purchased an action camera. So get ready for some insanely cool shots! I can’t wait to really play around with it and see what all it’s truly capable of.
If you have any specific requests for video ideas, definitely let me know so I can create the content that you want to see. (:
In other quarantine news…
As much as this situation was a major inconvenience, I’m kind of glad it happened. It allowed me to focus on saving money rather than spending on eating out, random shit I don’t need from the store, and impulse junk food runs.
Like I said earlier in the post, I’m working on building up my resume. I recently watched Shelby Church’s video about her experience writing for Medium. I thought it was just another platform for journalists or experts to write on. But I didn’t realize that there were everyday people sharing their stories and experiences too. I started writing a draft of a post that I plan to share on Medium’s website, so be on the lookout for my announcement when it goes live!
I also started a new journal practice, inspired by none other than Lauryn at The Skinny Confidential. She shared an Instagram story of a journal practice she’s been working on during quarantine. I just knew that I had to give it a try. It’s quite literally a game changer! I call it my “Daily Three’s and To-Do”. I’m planning on sharing the original inspiration and how I’ve adapted it for myself in a blog post on its own. So, be on the lookout for that one as well!
I know today’s post went in all kinds of directions, but I promise that everything is going to start getting back to normal here on the blog and over on my YouTube channel very soon.
I can’t wait to resume creating and sharing content every week (and maybe even every day)!
See you soon! xoxo,Arianna
